Ayurveda has always recommended Diet and Lifestyle according to season, because seasonal variation leads to changes in our body, as Ayurveda consider this fact that whatever that exist in Universe directly affects our physiological system. There occur some special changes in our environment and our body in every season and hence certain foods and lifestyle modifications are specifically told for each season.
Diet:-
• Bodies therefore crave a more substantial, nutritive diet at this time of year so consume easily digestible food; emphasize more on quality than quantity. Stay hydrated; drink lots of Luke warm Water, spices like jaiphal, clove, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper and shunthi (dried ginger) can be used. Sunflower seed, almond, pine nuts, peanuts, spinach, flaxseed oil, soybean, nuts, papaya, pumpkinseed can be consumed in this season, they work as good supplements. Consume hot & freshly prepared food, instead of sugar prefer jaggery.
• Avoid cold beverages, food, processed or packed food. Stale food should also be avoided.
Lifestyle:-
• Hot oil massage for healthy skin & hair. Exercise, Yogaasan, Pranayama is recommended in this season to improve blood circulation. Stay in warm and less windy places. Warm clothes are recommended. Wear masks to avoid coming in contact with allergens. Personal hygiene is important to avoid spread of infections.
• Avoid Day sleep or nap. Accumulation of deranged Kapha Dosha begins, which leads to diseases like Asthma, Common cold, Fever, Skin Disorders etc.
