Tobacco is a common name of several plants in the genus
Nicotiana of the family Solanaceae, and the general term for any product
prepared from the cured leaves of these plant.
Tobacco is one of the main addiction in whole world and the
most common form is cigarettes, cigars etc. Other chewable forms of tobacco
also used for addiction.
Tobacco smoking leads to disease and disability and harms
nearly every organ of the body. Millions of people in world are living with a
disease caused by smoking. Smoking causes cancer, heart diseases, stroke, lung
disease, diabetes and COPD which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, digestive
system disorders and problems of the immune system.
Passive smoking contributes to approximately 41000 deaths
among non smoking adults and 400 deaths in infants each year. Children who are
exposed to passive smoking are at increased risk for acute respiratory
infections, middle ear disease, slowed lung growth etc. Smokers were more
likely to develop severe disease with COVID 19 compared to non-smokers.
Chewable forms of tobacco is one of the main cause of Oral
cancer in India. Other than cancer several other diseases that affects mouth
and teeth can occur. Also people spit chewed tobacco in streets and make dirty.
Quitting smoking is another way to help combat climate
change, and to significantly reduce the incredible amount of waste and litter
due to carelessly discarded cigarettes end in streets, waterways and public
areas.
Cigarette smoke contains more than 70 harmful chemicals that regularly mixed in environment and causing environmental pollution.
To save our planet, using tobacco in any form must be stop immediately, otherwise this planet will be destroyed. We have to need awareness for this.
So, say NO to
Tobacco….our body needs FOOD.
