“60 Years of Progress : Empowering Cancer Prevention & Survivorship”

Empowerment is critical for cancer patients to make informed choices, to manage medication, and to navigate through the care system. D.S. Research Center  support provides patients with information, emotional relief and may promote empowerment.

It started with a mission to help the people whose lives were affected by incurable diseases. In 1965, young and healthy Daya Shankar (DS) all of a sudden fell ill and within eight days passed away without the ailment being diagnosed or being given any proper treatment. This incident stirred two visionaries, Dr. Uma Shankar Tiwari and Prof. Shiva Shankar Trivedi (elder brothers of Daya Shankar) and since then, they worked relentlessly to find the solution for some of the gravest diseases from the Ancient Ayurvedic texts, which the rest of the world thought was incurable .
Since the beginning, D.S. Research Center constantly introduced and championed new advances in cancer support and now offers diverse experiential support groups and classes, informational presentations, and exercise programs tailored to the unique challenges of people who have (or have had) cancer. In addition, as the survivorship rates for cancer have improved over time, D.S. Research Center has focused on the new realities of many who are living with cancer for extended periods of time.
Our years of experience have revealed four common needs which guide our programming:

-Need to Express Feelings Without Fear of Judgment
-Need for Choice and Control
D.S. Research Center is committed to broadening access to our services through Institutional  partnerships, access to up-to-date cancer resources, and by sharing our expertise with like-minded community organizations who want to develop their own programs.
