New Alipore, Kolkata's Ms. Ratna Chatterjee. Well over 50 years of age. She lives alone after marrying her only daughter. Talking about it, Ms. Chatterjee says, "the year was 2006, I suddenly realized experiencing pain in my chest while eating anything. I had difficulties in eating as well. When I consulted a local doctor, he passed it as 'gastric problems' and hence treatment started for the same but the problems persisted. I consulted a specialist finally, he advised 'endoscopy' and that was it, and reports showed cancer has attacked me. "Esophageal cancer" to be precise in medical terms. Coming to treatment the expert clearly told only solution is chemotherapy and radiation. But, then my body was not prepared to bear the brunt of chemotherapy.
