Pancreatic cancer is the 12th most common cancer worldwide. The overall five-year survival rate for Pancreatic cancer is 7.2%. It is considered a silent killer due to a largely asymptomatic course and late clinical presentation. It has been one of the most difficult cancers to treat.
Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer include: Pain in the upper or middle abdomen and back ,Unintentional weight loss ,Loss of appetite ,nausea and vomiting ,dark coloured urine ,Clay coloured stools, Fatigue ,Itchy skin ,Sudden onset of type 2 diabetes.
Pancreatic cancer risk factors:A risk factor is something that increases your chances of getting a certain disease. The risk of pancreatic cancer increases with age, with most cases diagnosed in individuals over 65 years of age, Smoking and Tobacco use is a significant risk factor, with smokers being two to three times more likely to develop the disease compared to non-smokers, Obesity, excessive Alcohol intake, Type 2 diabetes: Sudden-onset diabetes could be a sign of Pancreatic cancer, Exposure to chemicals, Pancreatitis (Hereditary and chronic )Mutations in genes, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes passed from biological parent to child.
Investigations include imaging tests like CT scan.,MRI Scan, PET Scan, Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), Blood tests like Liver Function test, A tumor marker test called CA 19-9  may indicate the presence of Pancreatic cancer. Other tests, like a CBC or chemistry panel can help evaluate a person’s general health. Imaging test results may strongly suggest pancreatic cancer, but the only way to be sure is to do Biopsy.

Pancreatic cancer treatments: Surgery (often the Whipple procedure) offers the best chance for survival; fewer than 20 percent of pancreatic cancer cases are diagnosed early enough for surgical intervention. For non-surgical cases, chemotherapy, radiation is typically suggested.
