Prostate Cancer

In general, cancer is a condition in which a normal cell becomes abnormal and starts to grow uncontrollably without having the signals or “brakes” that stop typical cell growth. The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder that is responsible for secreting one of the components of semen. Prostate cancer cells form masses of abnormal cells known as tumors.

Prostate cancer, therefore, is when a normal prostate cell becomes altered and starts growing in an uncontrolled way....

Although there is no proven prostate cancer prevention strategy, following some factors may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.Symptoms of prostate cancer includes—frequent urination, interrupted urine flow, urge to urinate frequently at night, blood in the urine, pain during urination associated with burning sensation, discomfort or pain when sitting.

1) Low fat diet- A study shows men who ate the highest amount of fat each day had an increased risk of prostate cancer. So limit fatty foods or choose low fat varieties. Reduce the amount of fat in cooking like butter, ghee, cheese etc.

2) Increase fruits and vegetables- Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which are necessary to build a strong immunity, thus reducing the risk of prostate cancer.

Be vigilant,

live healthy,
and don’t give up.
This disease can be conquered.

4)  Smoking- Cigarette smoke contains more than 70 harmful chemicals which are known carcinogenic. So it is one of the causes of cancer. Men who smoke regularly have increased risk of prostate and other cancers.

5) Alcohol- Regular and excessive intake of alcohol can always trigger different types of cancer including prostate cancer.

7) Periodical Check Up- We often neglect to check our health when we are not sick. But after 40 years, periodical  health  check up is very necessary for early diagnosis of any disease including cancer.
