Fighting Cancer Cachexia with the Right Nutrition


Cancer cachexia is not simply malnutrition. It is a metabolic syndrome driven by inflammation, tumor-induced metabolic changes, and altered energy balance. It is commonly observed in up to 80% of patients with advanced cancer. Patients with cachexia experience:

  • Loss of muscle mass despite adequate caloric intake. Cachexia involves changes in how the body processes proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, leading to an imbalance in energy use and storage.
